Finishing up my next novel, etc.
I'm going to finish up "To Kill A Judge" this week. Meanwhile, I'm still finding new ways to sell my books and getting ready for Christmas. Now, if I can find a way to keep the horses from pooping, I'll have some extra time....

Good book signings!
I had two good book signings yesterday and sold several books. People like my books! So far, the only negative comment I have had is that the rape scene was too vivid, to real. Well, I guess if that is the worst I'll take it as a compliment. The most of't repeated comment is that they can't put it down after they start reading and that they want more. Way cool!

Upcomming Book Signings
Sissy did a fantastic job working with the brochure company developing my new book signing handouts. They arrived yesterday, just in time for the upcomming events, three signings before Christmas. First, this Friday, 2 til 6 at McantyreBooks in Fearington; then the Hallmark Store in Carry from 11 til 3 on Sat the 11th. Finally at Harry's Market, timing still not exact. Should be lots of fun!

HORSES, WRITINGS AND WEATHER
Cold this am and yesterday all day. Bad enough to freeze your butt off for feedings, but scooping poop and riding cold too? More and more I am liking writing indoors where it is warm. Maybe that will help me finish my next novel, "To Kill A Judge". Now, maybe if I quit feeding as much they won't poop so much????????

Several book signings comming up before Christmas. One in Fearington Villiage, one in Cary at the Party Store and one at Harry's Market. All of these are good locals with a strong following. I am looking forward to it. Also, I am closing in on my next novel, "To Kill A Judge". Between these and our horse farm, I am keeping busy.

Book Stores
I currently have four stores carrying In The Flesh. Am headed to Raleigh today to seek out another one. Hope to have some national store interest on board as soon as I finish receiving and posting my review package. All new, but very intriguing.

So far, overall, sales are very good and reviews are extremily positive. People love my book! even those who don't normally read mystery/legal thrillers are realy enjoying the read!

"In The Flesh" sales
Wow, top ten Bestseller on Fictionwise. Who'd a thought it! Also, the book is now available in paperback on Amazon, http://www.amazon.com/Flesh-Paul-Nelson/dp/1602151059/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1255469514&sr=8-1. I think that as more people read it they really like it and pass on the word to others. Word of mouth is a great seller. Please, check it out and if you like it, give it a review and tell someone else. Only $3.99 on Fictionwise and $15.95 for the paperback on Amazon.

Still waiting for the paperback to appear. I check the mail, UOS trucks, etc. but no books are falling out of the doors. Meanwhile, life goes on. Looked at an old manuscript proposal that I wrote several years ago. Brought back a lot of memories. Lots of material to write about, just need some buyers and for that, need the books! Hell of a cycle that unknown writers enjoy. Obviously, from all the chatter on the networking sites, I am not alone.

Still waiting for the paperback proto of "In The Flesh". Gradually getting back into "To Kill A Judge", my next novel. Kind of funny how the characters all live in their own worlds. When I'm in character, I can only correct as if from the point of view of the person being represented, not an editor or, God forbid, the author. I guess it really shows up when I'm in character and am interupted. Then, comming back, everything is looked at in editing mode and if I have actually lost a train of thought I might have to delete a bunch before I can start again. Wierd, huh?

Things are essentially back to normal, whatever that entails. Am promoting what I sincerely believe is a very good read and maybe, it will become a really well read book. Anyone with any selling suggestions is more than welcome to offer them on this site. So far, all reviews have been extremily positive. Most readers don't want to put the book down (e-book) until they reach the end, and then with regret that the story is over. I like that!

With the death of Edward Kennedy, the hope of regular people, self employed with pre-existing conditions to get afordable insurance is dimmed. My wife is one of them and it is a road that most people don't understand. It is a priviledge that no one understands until you lose it. We are the only industrialized nation in the world where this is possible and that is a poor legacy for the greatest country in the world. My blessings to the Kennedy family.

Went to a get-together last night and came away with 2 new clients and one new horse. Pretty good!
Will send back the final-final edit today and things are looking good for making the scheduled launch of "In The Flesh" later this week or next.
After school is back tomorrow so lots of last minute stuff to wind up on that front, just as soon as I finish this delicious first cup of coffee.

I think most of my ducks are in a row now, picture is sent for back cover and final editing is over. I am looking forward to holding my first real novel in my hands. I wrote one other years ago, but it was nothing more than an essay and doesn't count. This one, "In The Flesh" is real and there will be several more to follow. I hope it is received well, and I thank anyone , in advance, for your comments that will help with it's ratings and sales.
For today, back to hanging fence boards.

Started the final edit yesterday. Only took a couple minutes to understand how much time and energy had been spent working on it by the publisher. So far I agree with 98% of the changes, all minor, and am surprised at a few things I overlooked. My bro-in-law has surgery this pm and should feel better soon. My wife has surgery next month and will see better soon. It is only fitting that my novel is going through surgery now. Onward!!

Picked up my wife's favorite horse yesterday. Been in training in VA for a couple months and now she is back in our barn. Looks like we will be showing again in the near future, something that's been lacking for the past couple years. With three horses capable of being shown in the barn, now, road trips should get back to norm.

I believe the quote goes like this, "Life is not about waiting out the storm, it's about dancing in the rain". Makes a major difference in how we approach life. I think I've always been on board with this philosophy, but never expressed it in this fashion. I do remember many times of waiting out the storm, usually just waisted time. I like dancing better.

Just another day in paradise. First day of our last summer camp, total of 16 young ladies scrambling around the ranch starting in 1 hour. Glad my wife is in charge and all I do is pick up food, repair equipment and whatever back up is necessary while I do credit card processing and write novels in between property upkeep. Lots of fun!

Hot weekend comming up. Perfect for painting fence. Guess I'll get plenty of beer handy and get busy. Books are on hold, but only temporarily. My publisher is in the middle of a vacation/move, and he is having a good time. I dont blame him. mmmm. Someday we'll do something similar, although we will ride horseback, not bikes.

Fencing still ongoing, but really looking good. Lots of work, but well worth it. Beginning to look like a real horse ranch, not just another place horses are kept.
Books are slow in getting published, but progress is forthcomming. I have to get this first one out, and then I believe the rest will be somewhat easier. Everyone who reads my work likes it, it is primarily a case of making it available on a large scale. I am hanging in there as my publisher is biking through the Cumberland Gap. Go figgure?

The good news is that my publisher has resolved the computer problems and can now get back to editing. Bad news is that he is in the middle of his planned vacation move. Oh well, at least things are moving forward.
Had a relaxing weekend and ready to get back to work. Lots of stuff to do, but I did begin re-working "To Kill A Judge"' I had forgotten how much I like that book. I believe, and so does Sissy, it will be bigger and better than "In The Flesh".
My nephew caught a huge red fish over the weekend, made me jealouse to be back in Florida. Some day..........

Two down, one to go! Only one summer camp left. They really are fun, but very taxing for both Sissy and me. Got to admit, some of these little girls really appreciate learning and their responses to challenges are super. The ones who try the most usually wind up with the awards voted on by their peers, and that is the way it should be.
Book progress has been on temporary hold, but should be back on track shortly. Looks like my publisher should be able to recoup his computer info and set it up on a new unit. Onward and upward, etc.

Today is the last day of our middle summer camp. Big show, cookout, etc. Lots of work to go around! One step closer to publication. Lots of interest. Cant wait to get into action. I believe the only holdback will be my own ability to order in advance, based on the reviews I am getting from those who see my postings and previews.

Publisher's main computer had a breakdown and editing is going through a slight setback. Hopefully all will perk up and we can procede soon. Everything at this end is on standby and ready to burst open. Already have new business cards, tee shirts and numerous places to go for signings, etc.
On another note, it is the next to last day of our second summer camp. Big show and cookout tomorrow. Always a chore, but lots of fun for the girls and their parents. Sissy and I usually take a couple days to recoup afterward.

Running a little behind in my first publication. My publisher is in the process of moving.
Anyway, I spent the day painting fences. Looks good, but much more of a job than I envisioned. Painting through wire and onto new, unpainted wood is a real challenge.
Borrowed my neighbor's big tractor to mow the lower pastures a couple days ago, what a difference! Everyone should get behind the wheel of a huge piece of machinery once in a while. It can and will do what you ask it to, whether you are really ready or not. Entertaining!
Been putting off working on my next novel, "To Kill A Judge". Guess it is time to get to work again. Love it when I am writing, but getting into it can be daunting.
The second of three summer camps starts tomorrow. These are the older, more advanced girls. Less hand holding and more adventurous.
